India is a country in which diversity is celebrated. From language to culture, from cuisines to traditions, landscape to art forms - this is a country where you will find all shades of the spectrum. The one great unifying factor, though, the one common thread that binds us all together, is our love of cricket. And if cricket is a religion, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is indeed one of the Gods we worship. The former Indian captain has recorded over 17,260 runs in International Cricket and is surely one of the best wicket-keepers of all time. Lovingly referred to as Dhoni or even Mahi, this cricketer has our hearts.

India's Mahi

There is more to Dhoni than his cricketing skills, though. He is a man of exceptional humility, grace, and sophistication. And despite the immense wealth he has earned through cricket, he remains connected to his roots. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's sprawling farmhouse in Ranchi is testimony that not all celebrities choose to live in the country's metro cities. Some prefer their home over glitz and glamour.

Rustic Roots

The Dhoni farmhouse, named Kailashpati, is located on the Ring Road in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. India's favourite, Captain Cool, commissioned this house in 2017, and it took well over three years to be completed. MS Dhoni's love of pets is well-known. His life on the farmhouse showcases his love of his wife, Sakshi Dhoni, daughter Ziva Dhoni, three pet dogs, and other animals. The farmhouse is spread over an area of seven acres and is a short drive from his first home in the heart of Ranchi city. Kailashpati is estimated to cost about INR 6 crores. Both MS Dhoni and Sakshi frequently take to Instagram to share stunning shots of the farmhouse and their wonderful life surrounded by friends and family.

The Blend of Luxury and Serenity

As a sportsman and a captain, Dhoni brought together two very contrary qualities - patience and power. Not unlike the skipper himself, the farmhouse seamlessly blends serenity and calm with luxurious amenities. Large landscaped gardens, canopied shades, and manicured lawns come together with a full-sized swimming pool, a fully-equipped gymnasium, a large garage for Dhoni's collection of bikes and cars, and nets for cricket practice. The house also has an outdoor party and barbecue area, and the couple loves hosting friends and family. Dhoni himself is believed to have designed most of this remarkable farmhouse and many of its beautiful features, including the exteriors and interiors. It has indeed been his dream home.

Personal Flavours

The Dhoni family loves spending time outdoors. The large farmland surrounding the house is divided into green lawns, orchards, plantations, and an area for relaxation. The wonderful flowering plants and green trees add to the beauty and wonder of this home.

And before we head indoors, let's take a look at the massive garage with glass walls that is home to Mahi's precious bikes. The skipper is a passionate rider and has a collection of over a dozen bikes, including a Kawasaki Ninja, Confederate X132 Hellcat, Harley Davidson FatBoy, Ducati 1098, and Yamaha RD350. Adding more to the personal flavour of this home is his enviable collection of cars, including Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, Ferrari 599 GTO, Hummer H2, GMC Sierra, Audi Q7, Land Rover Freelander 2, Porsche 718 Boxster, and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Now that is some serious love of speed.

Inside Mahi's Home

The interiors of Mahi's dream home are both rich and classy at the same time. Marble floors with wooden furniture and a bright colour-scheme - these complement the outdoorsy vibe with floor-length mirrors perfectly. The home is mostly white with black stonework panels. The brightly coloured, comfortable furniture adds a pop of colour. From the cricketer's Instagram pictures, we gather that the living area is an appealing mix of beige and pastel furniture, sheer curtains, gold panelled mirror, and oversized glass lamps - just the things that remind us of royal households.

Though fans love Dhoni's expansive farmhouse and everything that it stands for, Sakshi Dhoni's Instagram posts may hint at the family moving to their new home in Mumbai.
