The apartment is located on the fifth floor, letting in a lot of flight from the large windows, while there is a majestic arched ceiling with its exposed and dark wooden beams in the main room of the house. The view is stunning, looking over the lawns of the next-door Breach Candy Club, a famous colonial establishment popular for its India-shaped pool. Of course, there is the view of the Arabian Sea in the backdrop which is another major attraction. Breach Candy is one of Mumbai’s most coveted neighbourhoods as well, offering easy access to the finest social and civic infrastructure along with recreational amenities. It is also home to several business tycoons and big names of India Inc. 

The entrepreneur has stated how the family desired a higher roof and a big bedroom. This was achieved through combining two apartments side by side and revamping the interiors to make two massive main rooms with pastel and white hues. The location was a no-brainer for Screwvala since he has spent his childhood here, along with going to school and college in the area. His office has a huge collection of DVDs which testifies to his passion for movies and his journey as a moviemaker. His parents live in another apartment downstairs in the same building. The huge space is also a boon for his golden Labrador, Sprite. The family shifted to this premium home back in 2007. Screwvala had a defining philosophy in mind while crafting this dream house. He had distinct memories of the Parsi-Zoroastrian bonhomie he witnessed in his childhood, with people coming over all the time and the relaxed atmosphere where everyone could unwind. That has been the guiding template behind designing this ultra-luxurious Ronnie Screwvala house.

An interesting anecdote about doing up the home has been shared by Screwvala. M Night Shyamalan was directing The Happening, a movie produced by his company. The renowned director called up and confirmed his trip to India and Screwvala wanted to throw him a dinner party with all of Bollywood. However, the decoration of the apartment had only started back then. Hence, it was only 15 days before the apartment came together according to him, with paintings, furniture and a lot more. Screwvala admitted to having just a single sofa and some basic furniture before this unique incident took place. Eventually, the home has evolved into a labour of life, designed majorly by his wife and boasting of unique artefacts from various parts of the world.

Ronnie Screwvala is the media mogul who initially started as a pioneering entrepreneur in the cable industry before building a television production business. Thereafter, he shifted to movies, becoming a leading film executive. Disney bought his company UTV for a whopping $454 million sometime earlier. He also worked as the head of Disney UTV for a brief while. 

He is also the brains behind the Swades Foundation which he co-founded with his spouse. The organization works to uplift rural India in areas like health, sanitation, and education. Screwvala has also earned recognition from Time Magazine and Esquire as one of the persons who are the most influential in the 21st century. He built his conglomerate UTV Software Communications from scratch, creating some of the country’s most memorable content assets. By 2019, his foundation was working Maharashtra with lakhs of people. He has already supported 135,000 children across 1,275 schools while providing potable water to 32,654 homes and grafting 120,346 trees till this period. He is also behind upGrad, one of India’s biggest online education companies and RSVP which is a film company. He also set up USports in 2017 with an emphasis on kabaddi while owing the UMumba team as well.
