Many areas in Mumbai have evolved and, over time, become luxurious places of residence. They have witnessed infrastructural growth and residential development by renowned developers, making them coveted localities to stay in. When choosing their home, Mumbaikars also include a little bit of practicality in their search because there is nothing luxurious about spending hours commuting in bottle-neck traffic.

Most areas that bring the dream of ‘luxury living in Mumbai’ to life are close to the water bodies or offer spectacular views of the city's unique landscape. These places are home to the who's who of Mumbai, such as Bollywood celebrities, unicorn founders, industrialists, entrepreneurs and more, making these areas even more aspirational for Mumbaikars. While homes on Nepeansea Road and Malabar Hill still hold on to their old-world charm, there are new and old areas that have become more sought after in recent times for their opulence and convenience.

Here is a list of emerging areas in Mumbai for Luxury living:

  • Andheri  - Andheri has become one of the top emerging posh areas in Mumbai to buy a home. What started as a basic locality came a long way to become one of today’s most preferred and populous suburbs. Andheri owes this to its bustling infrastructural and commercial development and an expansive range of up-and-coming residential options. It is one of the most desired destinations among luxury apartment buyers, boasting several shopping malls, restaurants and a well-developed social infrastructure. It is well connected to the Western Express Highway, the airport and other strategic areas of Mumbai through the metro line.

           Average Property Price:
Andheri East - Rs. 20,206 per sq ft.
Andheri West - Rs. 27,871 per sqft.
Key Attractions: Mahakali Caves, Dharma Productions, Yash Raj Film Pvt. Ltd.

  • VersovaLocated at a distance of 10 km from the happening Bandra area, Versova is an upmarket neighbourhood in Mumbai. Versova is best known for the stunning Versova Fort and sprawling beach where the endangered Ridley Turtles were seen basking a few years ago. This area was dominated initially by the fishermen's community, but over the years has transformed into a young and chic area with trendy bars, restaurants, gyms and salons.

Average Property Price: Rs. 22,738 per sq ft.
Key Attractions: Versova beach, Versova fort, Aksa Beach, Residences of Bollywood Stars

  • Lokhandwala Complex - Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri West is an affluent Mumbai suburb which was originally an expansive marshland. In 1968 Siraj Lokhandwala purchased this area despite being dissuaded by people due to its distance from the centre. Today Lokhandwala Complex has become one of the most coveted addresses in Mumbai. Lokhandwala Complex has multiple high-end shopping arcades, cosy cafes, and fancy restaurants and is home to singers, actors and directors. A few luxury buildings in this area are Golden Heights, Mayfair Page 3, Royal Resorts, Royal Accord, Meghdoot, Oberoi Sky Gardens, etc.

Average Property Price: Rs. 28,066 per sqft.
Key Attractions: Manicured gardens, Walavalkar Park, jogging tracks, Lokhandwala Market

  • Powai - Powai is a classic example of how an unapproachable barren land can be transformed into one of the most popular and exclusive townships. Most of the area has been developed by Hiranandani, and you will find upscale residential buildings featuring plush condos, penthouses, bungalows, and commercial complexes. This self-sufficient neighbourhood doesn't require one to be connected to the rest of Mumbai because of its state-of-the-art offerings. It has premium schools, well-maintained parks, clubs, hospitals, swimming pools, and shopping complexes.

Average property Price: Rs. 22,917 per sqft
Key Attractions: Galleria Shopping Complex, IIT-Powai, Supreme Business park, Powai Lake, Hiranandani Knowledge Park

  • Pali Hill, Bandra - Arguably, one of the most charming suburban neighbourhoods in Mumbai, Pali Hill is characterized by its winding slopes, quaint nooks, corner cafés, and more. You are guaranteed to have a celebrity neighbour if you choose to move here. From classic bungalows, charming old-school structures, a little Portuguese influence and affluent hi-rise buildings, this area epitomises everything that Mumbai is. It has some of Mumbai's most renowned, gourmet restaurants and offers easy accessibility to other areas of Mumbai. If luxury living in Mumbai is on your bucket list, start your search in Pali Hill today.

Average Property Price: Rs. Rs. 45,254 per sqft
Key Attractions: Mannat (Shahrukh Khan's residence), Carter Road, Bandstand Promenade, Bandra Fort, Taj Lands' End

  • Chembur - Chembur is the latest addition to the block when it comes to impressive places to live. Chembur is a lovely, beautiful and centrally located neighbourhood that offers all amenities like schools, hospitals, colleges, and markets available nearby. Chembur ticks all the required boxes when it comes to connectivity, infrastructure, industrial hub, open spaces and luxurious properties. With this being the next big thing among renowned developers, one can find quite a few luxury properties for sale here.

Average property Price: Rs. Rs. 19,570 per sq ft.
Key Attractions: RK House, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre

The exclusivity that is attached to a homeowner's address in Mumbai is indispensable. Having said that, many features influence whether a location truly offers luxury living in Mumbai. Its infrastructural offerings, distance from the strategic areas, views of the beach, connectivity and luxury amenities are a few things that decide an area's status. Buying a home in affluent areas requires the time and effort to do so, and we at Blox ensure that this buying process is a seamless one. Through technology and a customer-centric approach, we make property buying a breeze for you.
