1. Direction for Pooja room as per Vastu

The direction of the Mandir or place of worship plays an integral part during the construction of a predominantly residential property. The northeast direction of the house is regarded as the holiest when it comes to the Pooja room, followed by north and east directions. Facing the west side is allowed to a limit, but avoid facing the south. The doors and windows of this sacred area should open out to the north or east direction.

  • At the entrance of the house

  • Sharing a wall with the toilet or bathing room

2. Designing and levelling of the Pooja room

While praying, face the north or east directions as the guidelines of the Pooja Vastu suggests. The idols shouldn’t face each other or the door as it is considered inauspicious.

Light is one of the essential sources of energy in a room. Make sure you have the space for natural light to enter. The windows should be facing the northeast direction. According to Pooja Vastu, the room should always be bright post sunset by installing LED or the Agnikund lamp but make sure it faces southeast.  Another effective to make sure the room is well-lit is by placing diyas. 

7. Doors of the Pooja room

According to Pooja Vastu, the doors or entrance play a significant role, beginning with ensuring the Pooja room has a door, given its sacred role in the house. While selecting the door, choose the wooden material with two shutters, which is immune to pests and termites.

8. Areas to align for Pooja room

You can use the living room or the kitchen area as the designated space for the Pooja room. Nonetheless, the direction should be northeast. If planning to build a mandir in your bedroom, make sure it is in the northeast direction with your feet not facing it while sleeping.
