Juhu, Bandra, Andheri, Colaba, Versova – these are some of the places in Mumbai that are easily known to even those who do not belong to this wonderful city. This is because they are some of the oldest residential neighbourhoods and also some of the poshest places.

So what makes Juhu such a popular hotspot among Mumbaikars? Let's take a look.

  • Sun, sand, and sea – The first thing that comes to mind when we think of Juhu is the beautiful beach. The Juhu beach and its carnival-like vibe over the weekends attract Mumbaikars by the hoards. The sand and the sea are indeed the city's greatest attractions, but the street food vendors, the games and rides, and the fun activities at Juhu are a close second. Now imagine getting unlimited access to these stunning views from your home. The red sky, the setting sun, and the golden waves of the Arabian Sea – are what sea-facing flats in Juhu offer. And sure enough, this makes it an exclusive and posh area in Mumbai.
  • Celebrity homes – Juhu is posh and expensive and showcases the country's best luxury living. Trying to understand what made this suburb the go-to residential destination for movie stars, producers, models, sportspersons, media moguls, and other celebrities is a cyclical exercise. Some claim that the upscale neighbourhood owes its development and beauty to the affluence of the homeowners, while others believe that the neighbourhood attracts the rich and famous. Whatever the reason, you will be hard-pressed to find another part of Mumbai with as many celebrity homes.
  • Lifestyle and more – There is a reason Juhu is referred to as the Beverly Hills of Bollywood. The quaint cafes, the international fashion brand outlets, and the phenomenal nightlife make it just the place life-affirming Mumbaikars would love to live and thrive. Juhu Beach, Joggers Park, and Muktananda Park are great options for those who love to commune with nature and lead an active lifestyle. Juhu is home to numerous actors, and the cultural life of this neighbourhood is kept alive by the Prithvi Theatre, named after the legendary Prithviraj Kapoor. Juhu is a veritable melting pot of cuisines and cultures in the city, and just about everyone wants a piece of this posh area in Mumbai.
  • Connectivity et al. - What is the one thing that Mumbaikars cherish above all? Connectivity! In a sprawling and ever-expanding city like Mumbai, connectivity can be the one factor that drives real estate, lifestyle, and commerce. Excellent connectivity is the feather on Juhu's cap. With easy access to neighbouring Versova, Andheri, Santacruz, Khar, and Bandra, most residents do not find the need for a long commute. For those who do, the DN Nagar metro station and Vile Parle suburban train station offer more than exemplary connectivity.

Conclusion

While we understand the popularity of Juhu's residential market, let us not forget that the development of this neighbourhood has been mixed. This means there are just as many commercial spaces and office properties as residential projects. For example, several media and movie production companies have offices in Juhu. This is definitely a factor in the high demand for real estate and the high level of development in this neighbourhood.
